Become a Member

APT is a non-profit organization that seeks excellent, progressive artists who stay active in the arts. As an APT artist member, you have the opportunity to have additional exposure for your art work and any art services you may offer; to advertise exhibits where your work is featured; and to drive more traffic to your web site. We aim to build a mutually productive relationship with great artists, and to work with those of you who want to further refine your presentation. You do not need to live in Texas to be an APT member; however, one of our requirements is that members sell art within the state. Our goal is to bring awareness of Art Professionals of Texas and its members to the public and to the attention of collectors and patrons. We hope you'll grow with us, and join us in our quest for excellence!

APT member artists benefit by:

  • Invitations to APT outings and educational workshops
  • Opportunities to participate in innovative member exhibitions
  • A webpage on the APT website, featuring art, bio, and a personal website link
  • A monthly APT email newsletter with interviews, inspiration and art news
  • Forging and broadening connections with other progressive innovators and with collectors

APPLICATION PROCESS

APT has a juried-in membership, with new members now being accepted quarterly. Applicants are asked to submit work by December 2013, in order to be added to the roster in January, 2014. (Jurying will take place in December, March, July, and October).

Artists are asked to submit 8-10 photographs (jpegs, at least 600 pixels at widest, 400-600 kb file size, please label each jpeg as Initials_TitleOfWork.jpg). In an email to info@artprotx.com, please include your: name, contact information, primary medium, primary style (abstract / representative), as well as a brief bio / resume of your art experience. Upon acceptance by our jury panel, you will then be asked to pay online or mail in your yearly membership fee of $40.

Artist membership is limited only by the quality of the artist’s work (and if not proficient or knowledgeable in photographing art , the artist is encouraged to enlist the help of a professional photographer in order to get the best possible representation of one's work before the jurors). If fewer than 5 images are juried into the APT site gallery, it is our hope that the artist will resubmit more photographs later. Artist may apply for membership following the guidelines on the application. APT enlists a jury of fine art professionals across the state of Texas to review all candidates’ submissions. The jury reviews each candidate’s work against artistic guidelines as outlined below to determine membership qualification and placement. The APT membership committee review’s each candidates’ background and makes a final determination based on both the jury’s review and the artists’ professional history to determine membership placement and which photographs to feature in the APT gallery. Each applicant’s work is evaluated using the following guidelines:

  • Design
  • Mastery of medium
  • Conceptual originality
  • Evidence of professional practice (i.e., production, exhibitions and thematic depth).
